Native to the Mediterranean region
In the mint family, Lamiaceae
Leaves: grey-green, tomentose, white undersides
“Fruticosa” means shrubby
‘Phlomis” is derived from “phlomos”, Greek for mullein, in reference to the woolly character of the leaves, similar to the common mullein plant
